Adventures in the Frozen Food Aisle!

Looks delicious, right? We'll see about that...

With cheddar AND romano?!

The prepared meal (cheddar-wurst sold separately).

The funny thing is... it looked tastier halfway through the cooking process than how it turned out. I don't know, maybe that's not very funny. Stay tuned for more to come!

Drink Water... Only If You Want To

Just whipped up a short video chronicling the creation of the new uh... study table... for our house. And when I say whipped up, I mean it's taken me almost a month to get it online because the video wasn't previously working correctly on vimeo, but alas, without further ado, I present to you, for your enjoyment, a SLOS exclusive video.

Believe it or not, this took almost two weeks to complete. Although, in my defense, I'm a procrastinating, unmotivated perfectionist.

Boy, I sure am ready for some studying. Bring on the classes! err whatever...

MY GOODNESS

...TAKEN was AWESOME!

If your daughter is ever kidnapped, drugged up and sold into prostitution, you better hope your dad is a retired government "preventer" whose set of skills include the ability to knock out anyone and everyone that gets in his way. It'd be a plus if he was also able to shoot up a whole house full of thugs with guns. Granted, most of them were shot in the back while hurrying like idiots down the stairs, but it was still impressive.

It's also good to finally know there's a legitimate use for a car's slapstick, just start from minute 79:55 of the movie. I think he was trying to slow down? In any case... it was badass.

In all seriousness, I really hope more movies like this are made. It's deceptively short and to the point. I couldn't imagine how he would make it out of certain jams, much less resolve the conflict in under 8 minutes remaining of the movie from that 79:55 car scene. You want action? You get action. And I got action. lol

On another note, things were hitting close to home in a couple of these articles, check it out.
See #14 [Mental_Floss]
See #11 [11 Points]
See #10 [11 Points]
And this one is just interesting [11 Points]

And if you're bored right now, head over and make a movie! Its easy! For example...

POST EDIT: Just watched Iron Man...I have two gripes. Basically infinite power from a small source in your chest? Personified intelligent 'butler' computer system named Jarvis and 'pet' robots in his workshop? Oh, and did you really have to cast Samuel L Jackson? Such a promising sequel, now ruined for me :(

P.P.S. IMDB: Random pictures of people from Iron Man premiere? lol

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Ah, Fourth of July. Every boys favorite day: a day to blow shit up. Straight up. And its viewed as OK, even normal.

But more importantly, today is also my phones birthday. Actually, I think it was yesterday... but we're going to celebrate it anyhow. In one year, I managed to take... 650 pictures. That's 1.7808219178082191780821917808219 pictures per day. And I'm not one to keep my phone out all the time either.

What do I capture you say? Well, delicious steak, the booze my parents don't drink, recycling, the best snack ever, chicks, sumptuous temptations, odd sights, signs for my room, cool views and landscapes, glory holes, and other funny shaz.

Do you want me to keep going?

HAPPY 21ST POST!

HEEEEEYAAAAHHH!

Fact: The Onion is delivered and distributed in a '90s Plymouth Sport Wagon, probably the GRAND Voyager for the increased cargo area.

Kudos to them for keeping their costs down by using this great machine. I would go as far to say it could possibly be THE original minivan used by the two Madison founders to distribute their creation, but it looks to be a generation II model (post 1988), so scratch that.

So, Ive just finished watching all the Jake & Amir sketches on Collegehumor...they're hilarious, stop whatever you're doing right now and check them out. Here's a guy who dances all over the world, collegehumor danced with him on their last video in the All Nighter '09...because they were too lazy to make something else up. Music Good, Cover Art Better

sneaky invisible text
You can't fool me Asher Roth, I know what you did.

Exhibit A: FatLip (of The Pharcyde) with his relatively well received hit, "Whats Up Fat Lip?" (2000)

Exhibit B: Asher Roth, with "I Love College" (2009) going gangbusters in the mainstream.

Here's a hint, it sounds the "same".

In other news, here's a tune for your enjoyment, its Pharcyde weekend baby.

Uncool

I was just listening to Lupe Fiasco's second album, The Cool, and kind of stumbled over this song. It's not exactly hip hop like the rest of the album, maybe that's why its called Uncool on an album called The Cool? Anyways, its' really powerful. I like it, check it out.

Exams

That's pretty much how I feel about them. By the way, why do we keep getting snow? ...its April, DOG GONE IT. But then again, this probably happens every year and I just forget. So, lets just say the two exams I got back so far from last week resulted in a almost failing grade and an almost perfect score. And I really couldn't afford to get the failing grade. Go team me... thinking about a different career focus right about now.

And now onto the battle royale of songs. Which "pt. 1" song do you like best?

We Be Doing It Up Crooklyn Style

Yet another amazing discovery in the genre of underground hip hop for me. Ive been listening to these two songs for the past week, really great stuff. There's some really good remixes on YouTube too. Read up if you're interested. There was a third time around for Crooklyn too, but the original 'Crooklyn' is still my favorite.

Saturday-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay!

In honor of it being Saturday (well, 8 more minutes anyways), I wanted to share this. I'm also still pumped from a big Wisconsin basketball win last night, plus the fact that all my round 2 picks have been right so far, Huzzah!

This is called A Roller Skating Jam Named 'Saturdays' by De La Soul featuring Q-Tip and vocalist Vinia Mojica.

Q-Tip:
Girl meets boy on Thursday night
Boy was high girl fly like kite
They hold hands until next day
Boy then lets go hit his way
Boy rules butt brags to his boys
Erection brings bad boy joys
Boy thinks of that big fat back
Big black fat love big black fat
Girl calls boy to stand him up on Saturday
Saturday
...

While trying to find that video again (it'd been taken down from YouTube recently), I ran across this.

Absolutely golden. You think you can out-maneuver ninjas on roller skates? I think not.

Lastly, I rediscovered last night Hip Hop Heads. Such a great site if youre interested in the underground type hip hop Ive been sharing. I came across one of The Pharcydes 12" under the Dope Drop section, showcases a remix of Passin' Me By, such a fly remix for sure! And check that album print, so boss. PEACE!

Dog Gone You, Upset Picks!

Way to go Big Ten. Michigan supposed to lose, end up winning. Illinois supposed to win, end up losing. And how did I pick it? The wrong way, thats how. So here's hoping tomorrow goes better, and On Wisconsin! At least Purdue 'crushed' arch-rival Northern Iowa.

While watching the Texas vs. Illinois game, Texas' point guard DoÄŸuÅŸ Balbay makes a 3 pointer as the shot clock expires (as in, there will be a shot clock violation unless he makes a shot...as in, he should shoot the ball).

First, a little background: (Courtesy: NCAA.com)
" Q. You've been going with the young point guard as well. It's Balbay. Can you talk about what impact he's had on the team, and in the last 11 games that he's played? And whether or not you might use Gary Johnson against this Minnesota team in your starting rotation?
COACH BARNES: Yeah, well, does is the only player I've been around in my life that doesn't want to shoot the basketball. I would assume, you know, one day he said to me Coach, my job has always been to set up other players. I said it's hard to set up a guy when your guy's guarding him, too. So you need to make people guard you.
He's a terrific player. Very fast, and he can shoot the ball, believe it or not. He just doesn't want to. But he can really defend. Very athletic. Makes some terrific plays for you. Offensively he can do some things. He sees the floor well. If he'd just shoot the ball a little bit more, people would respect him a little bit more that way, he'll be that much better, which I know that is something he'll continue to work on. "

This is the actual banter passed between announcers Jim Nantz and Clark Kellog:
Jim: Hooo shit, did you see that shot? Wow, what a 3 pointer.
Clark: 1, 2, 3, COUNT IT!
Jim: Wow, I mean, you just never see Balbay make shots like that.
Clark: Yeah, I've talked to Coach Barnes, and he says hes a great athletic guy, you know, but he won't take the shot.
Jim: No way, you just dont see that, such an unselfish guy.
Clark: Well, that, or he just doesn't want the airball chant.
Jim: Yeah, but no, he doesnt take that shot, but it sure is pretty, eh?
Clark: Yeah, gotta agree with you there Jim. I'm just surprised he took the shot, so unlike him.
Jim: Heh, bet you wish your shots went down as easily as that back when you played, eh Clarky boy?
Clark: Shutup, Jim.
...awkward silence...
Jim: Well, you know I still can't get past the fact he took that shot.
Clark: Yeah, I thought he would of dished it to Abrams, or looked for an open posted Pittman, maybe dribbled it a bit outside the paint. At the very most, penetrate and shoot the J.
Jim: Hmm, well not sure what you just said there. After all, I AM a middle aged white man.
Clark: Heh heh, got that right.
Jim: OOOOH, you know what? I just realized. The shot clock was about to expire! Of course!
Clark: Shit, thats whack! Why didn't we think of that?!
Jim: Huh, it all makes sense. Well, how about that folks.
Clark: Yeah, good thing we got that figured that out. I would NOT have been able to sleep tonight.
Jim: Well, we got a barn burner here folks. Remember to fill out your bracket and send it in to coke.com for a chance to win a free yacht ride with T-Pain, because Coke Zero has all the great flavor you love, with none of the calories...

I stopped listening at about that point. Such insightful announcers.

Well, lets take a look at where we stand in the tournament thus far, and how it worked out for my bracket, shall we? Not too bad I suppose. Oh wait, all the really obvious ones won? And all that extensive bracketology I researched was for nothing? Mmm, makes sense.

By the way: Hey Facebook, NOT OK. You know how dependent I am on your poorly designed tournament app.

P.S.: Hey Chevy, NOT OK. You're just giving me one more reason why I should never buy a car from you, (as that would associate myself with Nickelback)...or hang your calendar on my wall.

(P.P.S. I dont really have a problem with Jim Nantz and Clark Kellog... I was just bored. I do really hate Pam Ward though. Oh, and the conversation between them may have been fabricated).

Eww Goo...Woo!

...boo blue brew coup clue crew do due drew few flu grew glue hue jew loo moo mew new queue shoe sue too two to true through threw view vue (saturn) woe you yew zoo. Did I miss any?

So, time really flies when you're doing...nothing. Nothing, except checking CBS just to make sure I'm not missing any basketball, playing video games that pertain to goo, making pancakes, watching old John Travolta movies, and procrastinating the inevitable homework.

Back to that whole string of gooey words. If you're the type of person who enjoys a good physics puzzle (not me), then you're the type who'd like World of Goo. Hey, but even I liked this game, so give it a shot. The basic plot is to create structures made out of goo that will reach a tube, which sucks the remaining goo guys you didn't use to create the structure into a vat for future processing. The demo includes at least 12 levels to try, and a mode to try and create the largest tower of goo possible with the extra goo guys you've sucked up in the story mode levels. Steam was running a deal on the game a couple of weeks ago, selling WOG for probably $5, though it's normally $20... I probably would have bought it.

Anyone a fan of Beastie Boys? How about Q-Tip? (Tribe Called Quest!) WELL THEN, GET IT TOGETHER!

(Phone is ringing... oh my God).

OMFG Selection Sunday!

Sorry I couldn't get some thoughts out last night, I was watching Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) on my new favorite local TV channel. The movie was actually quite realistic: if you fell asleep you would die and come back as an emotionless body snatcher. Here's a scene where Donald Sutherland is in some sort of alien processing plant, walking on the cat walk, and chopping strings of bulbs lighting the place, which in turn causes massive explosions and fires as they drop to the ground. Again, very realistic. Let me just say, the ending really, really got me. Once that was over, I went to bed, otherwise I would have liked to stay up and watch Flash Gordon. I would have stuck around had I known there'd be an epic football/dodgeball scene!

I'm so good at basketball, it's scary. Which is why you would naturally expect me to be so excited for today. I mean, it really all started back in 1993 with Shaq's hip hop debut, Shaq Diesel. A promising and talented young player with hip hop skillz, what more could you want from a man? But more recently, I've lit up the floor with my intramural team. Yeah, that's right, we're going to the playoffs, with a 3-1 record in the regular season. And how did I achieve such a feat? Lots and lots of practice, even if it means retrieving the ball every time it snakes through the bushes and all the way through the neighbors yard...into another neighbors yard.

But really, if you want to stay up-to-date with the latest bracketology, use my foolproof method that has the sure-to-please-everyone picks. If you need more coverage in this area, please see http://erintracker.com/. Lookin' good Erin.

I cant really understand how I am ever bored, as long as there is a computer around.
Exhibit A: http://listverse.com/
Exhibit B: http://dagobah.biz/flash/

Check out this below, its from the dagobah site, but thought itd be cool to show you here. Cool song from DDR, Move Your Feet (by Junior Senior) (http://dagobah.biz/flash/moveyourfeet.swf)

EDIT: Due to extreme low level of visitors thus low levels of confidence in myself, I'm taking down the awesome hosted music video. Go here and see it instead. It also slowed down page loads...and screwed stuff up.

So if you go to the Dagobah main site, and hit the random flash! button under navigation, you will get a random flash obviously. These are some of the ones I got:
I was creeped out at first...but then math and reasoning took over.
I love Conan.
I couldn't get past level 2 forever, then quit at level 5.
Hilarious, I want to do this sometime!
Do you like fuzzy, cuddly, nice bunnies?
Apparently, this is god like work for loops. I could never do it.
This game makes no sense.
Another Conan one, he should come to one of our football games!
I spent like 20 minutes on one match, ended up with a final score of 0.
Brought me back to the days of watching The Price is Right.
Brought me back to the days of listening to Dead or Alive.
Unfortunately, I watched this whole episode, but the 4 vs. 4 (scene 4) is really the only scene worth watching, Mario goes crazy with the hammer.
And lastly I stumbled upon this (watch this 2nd), which led to this (watch this first), which led to this:

Check out more videos from DFear, pretty funny stuff. I can see a collegehumor career in his future.

EDIT: Here are some other cool ones I found. You may have already seen them as I was trying to host them here but I've decided to just link them...I had problems trying to figure a way to have them not automatically play... Anyways, enjoy.

Please Leave A Message After The Tone

Beeeeep. Thats the sound of my brain shutting off for the next week. Oh wait, I still have to write a paper this week, damnit.

So, the people over at Steam got their shit together, extended the free play to this weekend, and let people download and preload Unreal Tournament 3 during the week in preparation for the weekend. Thus, I retract my previous angry sentiments. Before I started playing, a loading screen offered me the advice that I was once a n00b so don't be an asshat...which is all well and good except I was never a n00b. I then proceeded to rip it up. Damn my reflexes are fast, it's making me nauseous. That is, until I realized I wasn't playing online. Haha...ha, whoops. I then proceeded to get dominated in online play (except for a short rampage near the end of the match). All in all, pretty fun game, check it out free for another 1.6 days.

Earlier in the week, while 'dumpster diving' through college library trash for a business club (with a focus on the environment and sustainability, in this case recycling), who should roll up into the parking garage, music pumping, but the one and only Bret Bielema. He got out, paid the meter, and left. If you were wondering, he drives an Escalade, go figure.

Man, I love Carson's Carryout. With the convenience, dedicated and hard working employees, and tasty, well presented food, whats not to love? Its the best when I get done with class at night and haven't eaten for 9 hours, I cant wait to get a hold of my delicious 12 inch loaded pizza. Oh, whats that? The system says I ordered a 7 inch, cheese only pizza? Oh no that's fine cool I don't care not a big deal whatever don't worry about it kthxbye. And to think they wouldn't hire me.

I'll leave you for now with a real chill piece by PUTS, peace!

'Too Much To Do' Tuesday

Hahaha, too much to do...get it...Tuesday...because its alliteration...and its funny. But seriously.

So, continuing with the genres-you've-never-heard-of-that-I-listen-to, here's something called space age pop, a type of exotica, made mostly in the '50s and '60s. It reminds me of another great interest of mine, the FX tv show Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, or should I say IASIP reminded me of space age pop. IASIP's opening/closing/scene transition theme is this genre. Its just another reason to love IASIP, it fits in well with their comedy. This is called Holiday for Strings, from Ultra-Lounge, Vol. 3: Space Capades (tracklist). Just one great example of many for this genre.

Also, Id kill to live in Philly just to see filming of stuff like this. I love green man.

Meh Meh Meh... Monday

Ive been a fan of the shooter half-life ever since it came out in late 1998, back when my brother and I had to carefully monitor how much internet we used, since the family computer was on a 15 hour per week dial up plan... that was hell. I still have vivid memories of playing team fortress classic on Sunday nights as we could use up the rest of the weekly allotment. Anyways, I stumbled upon these videos today, thought they summed up the plots pretty well. I guess I could throw out the ol' spoiler alert, as it does reveal the endings...kinda. I still jump every time those brain suckers break through the ceiling.

Half-Life

Half-Life 2

Half-Life 1 & 2!

Oh, and before I forget, thanks a bunch Steam for arranging that sweet deal to let us play for free Unreal Tournament 3 Black all weekend long. If only your servers werent too busy to let me download it ANYTIME THE WHOLE WEEKEND! I guess Ill just spend my time elsewhere... practicing my spy skills. Aggggl, he's also good at L4D (letting the black guy do all the work, shit).

EDIT:
OK, so more stuff going along with the Half-Life theme:

Un tss un tss un tss.
Un tss un tss un tss.
The system is down.

And I have no background with Max Payne but this video is pretty funny too. From the same guy who made those two Half-Life in 60 seconds vids above.

Success!

Wow. Holy shit, that only took forever. HTML is definitely sleeping on the couch tonight. So after I was about ready to give up on trying to share my musical views of the world with you, this handy little audio player decides to start working, great.

So, one of my more recent obsessions is a genre called underground hip hop/90s hip hop/jazz rap. I guess you could say the genre started around 1990 or so, with peak innovation around 1994 IMO. I was jump started into listening to this genre with a group called A Tribe Called Quest, which fanned out to other groups such as De La Soul, The Pharcyde, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Digable Planets, Main Source, Black Sheep, Camp Lo, Black Moon, INI, Lords of the Underground, Hieroglyphics, Organized Konfusion...the list is very long, but these are just some of my favorites. This kind of hip hop has faded out since, but a few groups like Lupe Fiasco (He's the one who put out Superstar ft. Matthew Santos, which you hear at every party) and People Under the Stairs (PUTS) continue to produce fresh beats. PUTS is a group I just discovered a couple weeks ago, so lay back, relax, enjoy one of my favorites by them.

Dog Gone You, Tasty Snack Machine!

Welcome, welcome all... lets get the ball rolling, shall we?

I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem, but for some reason, on Thursdays of every week I become extremely thirsty. I'm starting to worry. Maybe its the heavy academic workload, or the intramural basketball game, ...or just global warming. Nevertheless, this ailment also gives me an insatiable snacking appetite, which is why FRITO-LAY NORTH AMERICA, INC. makes me their bitch every time.

So opening day of The Watchmen was yesterday and I happened to go see it. Let me just say that the R rating for nudity was appropriate for both female AND male sexes, unfortunately. But for all the male ass and "piping" you see, I guess the numerous scenes with Malin Akerman
makes up for it. As someone on the IMDb boards said, "yeah, her ass was seriously a ten. Very nice." I agree. Oh and thanks for putting on your man thong once in a while Dr. Manhattan. One more thing, dont get me started on the soundtrack. It was ridiculous(ly bad), see for yourself:
1. Desolation Row (My Chemical Romance)
2. Unforgettable (Nat King Cole)
3. The Times They Are A-Changin' (Bob Dylan)
4. The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel)
5. Me & Bobby McGee (Janis Joplin)
6. I'm Your Boogie Man (KC & The Sunshine Band)
7. You're My Thrill (Billie Holiday)
8. Pruit Igoe & Prophecies (Philip Glass)
9. Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)
10. All Along The Watchtower (Jimi Hendrix)
11. Ride of the Valkyries (Budapest Symphony Orchestra)
12. Pirate Jenny (Nina Simone)

I suppose it would help to see which song was played where, but you'll just have to trust me on this one.
